Host the powerup girls for life program free or at low cost!

Using our grant funding, our goal is to serve as many Weld County, Colorado 4th, 5th, and 6th grade girls as possible in 2019. We also plan to serve girls in Larimar County in 2020. Your after-school program, youth organization or girls’ club can help us by partnering with us to host a packaged, user-friendly PowerUp Girls for Life program for free or at low cost.

Built in flexibility makes hosting work for you and the girls you serve:

  • Number of participants: from 10 to 100

  • Age of participants: designed for 4th, 5th, and 6th graders (we are working to modify the program for 7th and 8th graders)

  • Choice of program schedule formats to fit classroom or club use:

    • Thirty 30-minute sessions

    • Thirteen 1-hour sessions

    • Six 2-hour sessions (combining sessions reduces program time)

    • Four 3-hour morning or afternoon sessions

    • Or whatever works for your organization!

  • Option of collaborating with other schools or organizations to co-host the program

As a program host, you would provide:

  • A large room with tables, chairs, screen, projector, audio, computer

  • Parent/guardian and student outreach to promote registrations on our website or on paper, or alternatively, having parents and guardians fill out opt-out forms if they do not wish to have their child participate

  • Female staff with option to recruit help from vetted college students, high school seniors, or other volunteers to run program (at least two for even a small group is recommended if possible)

Youth Empowerment Group provides:

  • PowerUp t-shirts

  • PowerUp Card Toolboxes of life skills

  • Program materials: facilitator guidebooks, planning timeline and checklist, overview of topics, prerecorded program presentations, activity materials and instructions, table top set-ups

  • Online or paper student registration including consent or opt-out forms which include curriculum for parent or guardian review

  • Online training modules

  • Promotional materials such as flyers, social media

  • Advice and support throughout
