A message for Parents, women’s Groups, and community leaders

As a parent, doing these lessons with your daughters not only empowers them but can spur important future conversations, fortify your relationship, and show that you want to hear about their lives as they grow up—all crucial foundations for mental health, safety, and success needed by girls today.

Female community leaders and women’s groups may host free PowerUp Girls for Life events for 11- to 16-year-old girls to help empower this generation to achieve the equality they deserve. Contact Youth Empowerment Group for more information.

We recommend that women teach for these sessions for the safety and comfort of students and effectiveness. However, program use may be appropriate by fathers and their daughters who are in safe, stable relationships and by male professionals who implement this program in accordance with their organizational guidelines when women helpers are present.

Although designed for school counselors, social workers, teachers, and youth organizations, these plug-and-play video-led lessons are appropriate for use by parents with their daughters and groups of parents and women in:

  • sports leagues

  • summer camps

  • faith-based groups

  • community centers

  • business volunteer groups

  • homeschools, and

  • parent or mentor groups.
